We’ve recently added pictures to our photo gallery from our Washington’s Winter Surprise: the Battle of Trenton in Depth tour last April. The photos were provided by Bob Kotchian of San Jose, CA. Bob and his wife, Deborah are veterans of the tours we’ve offered in conjunction with the Company of Military Historians annual conference. Bob has some great shots of our tour including replica Durham boats, the Old Barracks museum in Trenton, the Swan collection at the New Jersey Washington’s Crossing Visitors Center and the Trenton Battle Monument. There’s even a picture of the imminent Revolutionary War collector, Harry Kels Swan who joined us at the visitors center for a special discussion of his collection. You’ll see that the weather did not entirely cooperate in a photo taken from inside the bus, but that did not deter our hearty trampers. Our tour leader, Bill Welsch is prominently pictured holding forth in a stirring description of General Washington’s crossing of the Delaware on that hazardous Christmas night in 1776. Thanks, Bob, for providing some great photos of a memorable America’s History tour.

We’re in the planning stages of another great tour that will be offered in conjunction with the CMH annual conference when it’s held in Baltimore, Maryland next year. It will, of course, be open to all America’s History customers, even if you are not attending the CMH conference. We’ll have more information before the end of the year.

On another note, I recently attended the Fort Ticonderoga War College on the French & Indian War. This conference has been held every May at the Fort for the last 16 years. It is an outstanding event with historians from all over the country presenting the latest in F & I scholarship. Our tour schedule will never compete with this event as I would not miss it myself. Rich Strum does an outstanding job as Director of Education in putting the conference together each year. America’s History donated a tour to be raffled off at this year’s War College. Tickets were $10.00 and we helped raise $650.00 for the Fort. Needless to say, the Fort’s executive director, Beth Hill was pleased with the results. The Fort is a non-profit organization which does not receive any government money to operate its magnificent site. Check out the Fort’s new web site at www.fortticonderoag.org and see its new branding as America’s Fort. We’d also encourage membership in the Friends of the Fort group as this site is a true historic gem which does great work in promoting a better understanding of our American history.
